Friday Night preview
Posted: January 29, 2016

The official parade season starts tonight and there are more parades on this weekend than next-21 major float parades in a four parish area, not including the "alternative parades" of Cork, Barkus, tit Rex, Chewbacchus, and the boat parade of Tchefuncte.

Friday night features a double-header uptown with Oshun and Cleopatra, while Eve rolls in Mandeville. In Metairie you'll see Excalibur and Athena.

And don't forget the free concert at Carnival on the Square across from Gallier Hall, and Family Gras in Metairie.

Fat Tuesday is two weeks from today! And the weather for this weekend’s parade looks super.

The Krewe of Orpheus announced yesterday that Nathan Fillion from the ABC hit series, "Castle," will reign as monarch. Joining Fillion on his ride will be his real-life leading lady, Krista Allen, star of CW’s "Significant Mother." Orpheus co-founder Harry Connick Jr. will also ride. Headlining the 2016 Orpheuscapade will be Chevy Metal featuring Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters fame, The Party Crashers, No Limits and Bianca Del Rio.

Look for me on Fox 8 this Friday morning around 8:15 and again at the start of the Oshun parade during the 4 PM and 5 PM Newscasts.

My Mardi Gras preseason preview will appear in Thursday's New Orleans Advocate.
